Edgeless vs FunFair

Decentralized online casino projects are appearing. Some are already live and have developed a blockchain online casino, like Edgeless, while others are still being developed and offer blockchain casino solutions – a slightly different concept – like FunFair.

Edgeless vs FunFair

Both Funfair and Edgeless offer players the possibility to gamble online on decentralized casinos, through a simple register process that only requires an email and an Ethereum wallet address. What are the main differences between the two projects?

Edgeless Casino

Edgeless casino still has a limited gaming offer, but already has Sports Betting, Dice, Blackjack and Poker. The ERC 20 (Ethereum based) token, EDG, is required to play, which is easily obtained at the site.

Tomas Draksas, co-founder from Edgeless, says that the more games the site has, the bigger will be the audience base, so growth will be a matter of time. The casino currently holds the Curacao License, but has plans to have all the existing gambling licenses, including United Kingdom and Malta.

The sports book from the casino has a traditional format as it doesn’t require any blockchain for the trust to be maintained, but betting can be made using crypto. Unlike many other crypto projects, Edgeless doesn’t has as goal the creation of its own blockchain, so Ethereum is a long-term partnership.

Funfair Casino

Edgeless was the first casino in the world to work with the Ethereum blockchain, back in 2016, but dozens of other projects exist now, including FunFair, another gaming casino technology on Ethereum.

FunFair is also a decentralized gaming platform, aiming to deliver a transparent casino experience for the player, but also to the operator. More than an online casino on the blockchain FunFair offers blockchain solutions for the online gambling industry.

The name FunFair comes precisely from the fact that they want the games to be fun and fair; FunFair offers just about anyone the possibility to build their own blockchain casino by providing a low-cost solution, pretty much like a template blockchain casino on Ether.

Apart from the fairness that comes from the smart contracts and the transparency, the costs are also reduced as transaction expenses don’t exist. Despite being a new project, the FunFair team has over 40 years’ experience building casino software and games, giving an extra layer of trust at the user experience level.

Similarly to what happens with Edgeless, also FunFair has its own currency, FUN, ensuring each user gets their reward or payment. The FUN tokens are bought at the online casino and are the chips to play. Game developers, affiliates, casino licensees and Random Number Generation services are all paid in FUN.

Getting licensed by FunFair is a simple process that awards the possibility to set up a casino under a private label and pick the desired games, standard or VIP rooms, bonuses, and so on, all the standard features from an online casino.

The main downsides for FunFair is that in many countries play is only still available on free play, but expansion is already happening. For both projects the future seems to be bright and being featured on Bloomberg and Forbes certainly confirms this optimistic outlook.
